SESSIONS ON DEMAND

Coalition between Cloud Providers and Financial Institutions in Europe - Implementing a Legal Framework as the Foundation for Successful Big Data initiatives

Public Cloud has emerged as an ideal platform for Big Data as it enables businesses to use resources on-demand without having to build, own or maintain infrastructure. Thus, the cloud makes Big Data technologies accessible and affordable to almost any size of enterprise. The current challenges of Public Cloud Services implementation, however, are often misunderstood – normally they have little to do with the technology itself but rather with legal requirements, especially in Europe where GDPR comes into play. It took Commerzbank more than a year to sign with a Public Cloud Service provider – and here is when Dirk’s team noticed that most of the European Financial Institutions have the same problem. Commerzbank decided to join forces with Cloud Service providers to avoid unnecessarily complicated negotiations and to discuss the blueprint of a legal framework for the requirements of the European Financial Sector.
